I am currently working on my work truck, its a 1994 toyota reg cab 4WD 22RE 5SPD. on the way home the truck starting missing and almost died. Happened about a mile from the house and i got the truck home but top speed was like 25mph. So i done the usuall and bought new plugs, wires, distributor cap and button. thought that i may have a wire or plug or something of that nature going bad. Didnt fix it. made sure the plugs were firing and they was. I got someone to start it and give it gas to keep it running for about a min and shut it off. back two cylinders were cold. i changed the two back injectors with the some from a running motor. no fix. Cant seem to fig it out at all.. here is what all i have done so far.
New plugs, wires, cap and button
2 good injectors
mass air meter
coil and ingniter
computer
checked all vac hoses
checked compression
timing on dizzy and on chain
prolly forgot other things

the plugs are getting plenty of fuel becuase they are wet when i take them out. i am stumped on this thing if you all know of some things i can try please let me know..sure miss driving this thing. If possible i can talk to someone who might know something on the phone and help me diagnose this thing.

well what was the compression? did you check the valve lash to see if its too tight?

You need three things to fire a cylinder. Compression, fuel, and spark. Which one aren't you getting? Cylinder 3 and 4 make up the rear bank, and the injector clips come off the same part of the wiring harness. You said you are getting fuel, but I would still check those two injectors with a multimeter and get some accurate measurements.

I cant remeber right off on the compression numbers. I checked all of the injector plugs and all of the plugs on the wiring harness going to the injectors. the plugs are firing, the injectors are spraying cause the plugs are wet. timing is right on the fire. if the injectors was spraying at the wrong time there would still be a lil bit of misfire or predetonation seems like.

If number 3 & 4 aren't firing, you don't have one of those three. Pretty simple.

thats what i thought, theres fuel, spark and compression, either the computer isnt spraying enough fuel through those two injectors or the injector spray timing is way off. i dunno, all parts of the triangle is there just no cake. i dunno whats the deal with it.

All 4 injectors fire at the same time and fire once per engine revolution so little chance of them firing at the wrong time.

If you have spark on the cylinders
plugs are wet you said so you seem to have fuel, but no combustion
valves have been checked right?

Almost sounds like the headgasket blew between 3 and 4.

same thing happened to my 89 accord.. hole blown between the 2 cylinders.. but the compression was lower on those two. redo the compression check.

And do the compression check properly- with the throttle blocked open and all of the spark plugs removed.

ill do it again this evening after work. ive worked on alot of things but this one is the weirdest thing ive fooled with. oh i forgot to mention i installed new timing chain, tensioners, oil pump, water pump and timing cover about 2000 miles ago. all the timing stuff checked out on it though...hopefully its something simple to fix. i have another engine but id rather nor go down that road......

checked compression on both cylinders, wont even move the needle. possibly blown head gasket, cracked head or cracked block...possibly anything else?
