I just replaced my Radiator on my 88 Runner V6. i order my radiator from Radiator Barn, a 3 row which i read on here that the stock is 2 row. i went to remove the old one and its also a 3 row. havent talked to my dad so im not sure if he had replaced it a long time ago. anyways i noticed that the upper and lower necks for the hoses was different than the old radiator. i was able to make it work because i just couldnt wait anymore to return it if it is indeed a wrong part or something. another issue i had was the fan shroud wouldnt mount up to any of the holes on the new radiator other than one. i had to zip tie the other three to make it stay on.

did you guys have this issue? the mounts for the radiator was prefect tho

The stock one for the v6 is a 3row. Is the top neck for the old one angled to the passenger side? If it is,that's the way it's supposed to be. If the new isn't angled, it's the wrong one,it can still work though. Is the new one shorter too? The upgrade for the 4cyl. is a 3 row,but shorter than the v6,so it can get mixed up. Although I do recall there being 2 slightly different v6 radiators for the v6's, especially between the 80's and 90's ones. I just don't remember what's different. I know sometimes the wrong one will bolt up in the older rigs,but the hood hits the radiator cap and dents the top tank in.

if i have know that the v6 was already a 3 row, i would have gotten a local replacement. the old one is angled to the passenger side. the one i got from radiator barn isnt. it bolted up and cleared the hood. funny thing is that radiator barn only has one option for what i told them it was for.

Let me look at work monday if I have the time. I'm pretty sure you need a #50(our part#) But like I said ,I think there is a little problem around those 80's v6's that causes some confusion. If it is the #50 I'll try to find visteon's part# because they seem to make the best quality one I've seen (at least they used to when I pulled mine off the shelf about 4-5 years ago). I don't think we carry visteon in that part # anymore due to cost (I think),which is sad because that's the best quality new complete radiator I've seen for that part#. I hate seeing crap radiators being sold to people,but that's all that is avaliable now days it seems like.

thanks guys. i already installed it. i emailed radiator barn and waiting for a response. i wouldnt mind if they took it back and gave me a full refund so i can buy one locally from radiator depo which carries the same brand radiator.
