I just swapped motors in my 1992 pickup and Its running now woo hoo has been for a while but there is still an major underlying issue I think. So it starts and drives and runs awsome. I took the radiator cap off when it was running and the coolant isn't bubbling or doing anything just sitting level in the rad. Could this be the waterpump? Or at this point I dont think there are any grounds or anything like that missing kind of seems like once its been running for a while it doesn't want to start and just turns over and won't fire, any help is VERY much appreciated, want to get this truck on the road!

the water will will only move IF the thermostat allows it.

the not firing part..idk..i need more info LOL like what has been replaced and such..it's not something like a ground..sounds more like a sensor.

Yeah sorry its hard to explain, The whole motor has been replaced, I have a new thermostat I don't know why I didn't put it in, I changed the oil sending unit (old one was for vehicle with a gauge) and thats really it. Last night I went we changed a universal joint so I wanted to see if the vibration was gone, it was. So I pull it back into the shop shut it off put the skidplate on it get it all ready to go then before I shut the lights out I thought I'll fire it up one more time and sure enough wouldn't start. Then this morning it fired right up.... I took the old motor (with blown headjaskets) out and dropped a new/used 3VZ-E in.

so wait....you did a motor swap because yours wouldn't start all the time?

Nope the headjaskets on the old one went.

I have a question about the thermostat on my 3.0, Is it a pain in the ass to do yourself or is it worth it to have someone do it

A thermostat?? Yea...Not hard, but if you are asking, you might wanna take it to a mechanic! LOL...kidding! The key question is...What is it doing to make you think you need to change it?

thermostat not hard at all, but be ready to drain the whole radiator. Damn Jap engineers put it on the bottom of the motor.
