3.0 rebuild help
Ok im not sure if im in the right place on the site. anyways i have got a 91 4runner, at the moment i have 2 3.0 engines. i need to get the runner running so ive resolved to rebuilding a 3vze.... i know most of you are gonna tell me to go with the 3.4 if im gonna do the work and i will in the future when i get more money. so what i need is the specs on a rebuild kit, should i get on the BORE SIZE .020"/.50mm or .04"/1.00mm? ROD BEARINGS .010"/.25mm, .020"/.50mm, or .030"/.75mm? and for the MAIN BEARINGS .010"/.25mm, .020"/.50mm, or .030"/.75mm?

Are you sending the motor you are rebuilding to a machine shop? They will be the best to tell you what you need. Depending on the condition of the block i.e. scores cylinder walls, egged journals, warped deck or whatever. That will determine if they need to re-hone any cylinders which would then require oversized rings and pistons. Likewise if the crank journals need trued then you will need different sized bearings.
If you plan on doing ALL the work yourself and hoping the block was in good condition prior to starting, then you should be able to measure the cylinder bores with a micrometer and bore tool and the crank journals can be measured with some Plastigage.

well i am going to send it to a machine shop and that makes sence to let them determine what i need. also, what should i do about the valves; should i rebuild them or buy new ones? that motor has a knocking noise from the valves because of the exhaust problem that motor has.... so i think.
