Hello all, this is my first post at YotaTech.

I am trying to figure out what heads do and don't fit on the 22r motors. I have heard that they all fit through the years, and I have heard all sorts of things about how they don't cross over between different years and models (Truck/vs 4Runner/vs Cressida, etc).

I am trying to buy another 2nd Gen Toyota 4Runner. My last one was a heavily breathed on '88 with the 3vze. This new I am considering buying one is an '87 with the 22r motor. It is a mechanic's special: dirt cheap (almost free), but missing the head. I have built a few 22r motors over the years, but have not had to deal with swapping heads before.

In particular, The owner/seller has a ported, rebuilt Cressida head that he spent about $300 on, but he says it does not fit. He traded in the original head as a core for this one. If I buy the 1987 4Runner I will have to deal with this, and I am trying to assess what is needed up front.
