2nd gen 4runner lift.

Ok, I know how to use the search function and have been reading posts on this subject for the last few days. Anyway, the question:

I've got a 95 4runner currently running 33x10.50 on stock rims with torsion bars cranked up front. I didn't think that it had new coils on the back when I bought it, but it must because it is level with the front right now.

Anyway, I'd really like to run 35x12.50's when all is said and done. What would be the best way to get there for the least money and not by using a 3 inch body lift. I just don't to drop the $ for an SAS yet because I'll never use it to its full potential, and I don't really want to drop $1400 for a 4inch suspension lift. I'm not opposed to some fender trimming to make this happen.

Finally, assuming I do fit the 35's, what gearing would you recommend.

Thanks for putting up with a newbs question.

If you dont want to drop cash, then get lc coils, bj spacers and new shocks...and do you have an auto? If so, you're gonna need 5.71's for sure to turn those 35's. A body lift is cheap too...

since the gearing has been adressed above, and I have nothing else to add to that...

personally... I'd relax the torsion bars a tad and add BJ spacers up front, and coil spacers in the rear, but that's not likely gonna get you the lift you want. Unfortunately, there's not much more you can do for lift to clear the tires you want except to cut the fenders or install a body lift or install a suspension lift. If you don't relax the bars up front after installing BJ spacers, I do suggest a differential drop be installed, in order to lessen the angles on the front axles so you reduce the risk of snapping joints, which is more likely with 35's.

in the meantime, keep your eye on craigslist.
I've came across lift kits for both my 91 2wd and my 88 4wd. each cost me 400 bucks- the 91 2wd kit had never been installed, and was originally about 900 bucks, and the 88's kit came from a guy that was doing a solid axle swap and he even threw in the entire IFS front end, short of the differential and housing... and the kit itself was originally about 1100 bucks.

Well, I'm not opposed to a body lift necessarily, I just don't want to do a BL over 2". I'm thinking that I'll be pretty close with a 2" BL coil spaces rear and BJ spacers up front. If that doesn't get it, I can probably get the rest with a little fender trimming.

It is a 5 speed and will be driven mostly on the road, so I'm thinking 5.29's. That sound about right?
