Unhappy 22RE wont rev past 1000rpms after rebuild

done with rebuild and engine started right up, got oil pressure, but wont rev past 1000 rpms...any ideas? tried running disconnecting AFM and TPS separately but didnt make any better...tps may have got a lil wet when degreasing bay...does this ruin it or can it be somehow dryed/fixed? Thanks in advance! - Jon

Check TPS with multimeter, check distributor is not 180 out or off a tooth.

Wet electronics = No Bueno.

PROBABLY not the TPS. I'd guess there's an issue with the VAFM. When you unhooked it, did you undo the screws or raise the wire clip & pull the plug?

Did you ever figure it out? Doesnt sound like a bad tps tho, I would assume you checked the timing?

well i cant get it set in the range 200-800 ohms on the VTA-E2 closed position test via instructions on 4crawlers site. I keep getting like 1.7-2 reading (20k setting)..Im assuming this means my tps is no good?

Well I threw another Tps on it, adjusted it to spec and re did timing. It was running decent. After nearly passing out from exhaust fumes during the cam break in (shoulda opened garage door, lol jk) I came to notice oil leak pissing all over engine bay.
Any ideas where I should start looking...it's somewhere leaking onto the belts and spraying all over. Oil pump?...?

Thanks

well I replaced the front main seal a few months ago, seems to have fixed the leak *crosses fingers*....After 4 months of not touching the truck the school semester ended yesterday so that means today I was working on her, lol... Got the timing set and couldnt figure why it was running so rough til I noticed idle at like 450...bumped up to around 700 and it took care of the violent engine shaking....Now I guess Ill put some gas in it that isnt over a year old and drive it for a bit then try and PASS CA SMOG which I doubt it will... And I guess I could wash and wax it since I have never done either in the over a year Ive had it...more updates to come!
