22re Wierd overheating issue

Ok so about a month ago my re was getting close to overheating. It would only do it when i would turn my heater on but cool down if I was driving with my heater off. It would get closer to overheating if I would sit in one place for a while letting it just idle. I delt with this for about 2 months before the one tragic night when it decided it had had enough and completely overheated on me. Boiled over and everything. I let it sit and cool down as much as i could but of course it happend after a long night of bs happening up in the hills and it was like 4 am and I was ready to be home so i let it cool and decided to drive on it. Driving did cool it down as long as i left my heater off. Everyone I talk to told me that was backwords as it should cool down with heater on because its circulating air.
I decided to try an easy fix and just do the thermostat because they are like 3 bucks and easy to change. In the process i also bought a radiator cap just to be safe. I changed them both and it fixed the issue.
Well now a month down the road when I turn my heater on it is starting to run hot again. Like gets to where I think it might overheat so i turn the heater off and it cools down. I am kinda worried about it because its doing the same thing It was doing before i fixed the theromstat and such before. I dont wnat it to get to the overheating stage again but im not sure where to go. I know my truck shouldnt go through a theromstat every month so does anyone have any ideas on what else it could be.
I wanna note its a new engine. I just had it put in about 2 months ago. It has about 2k on it at most and im not sure what it could be. I just dont want my new re to overheat
Help please?

Sounds like you could have a clogged heater core..

You need to get a dual stage stage thermostat from toyota.
Running hot with the heater on is a common problem with 22re.
Toyota put out the dual stage thermostat in the 80's to alleviate this problem.
Read this-

I was having this exact same problem and I bought one last week and no more running hot with the heater on.
FYI- the dealer I went to didn't know what it was or have it in stock so I would reccomend calling them with the part # listed on his site before you go there.

Thanks im going to go ahead and try that one. I hate to go to my local dealership I know they will argue with me about it.
I have bought many parts there that are exact to my motor but they argue with me everytime unless I bring my bf to ask for the part and me to just pay.
Thanks
