22re weird boggy feeling then opens up

My 22re has this weird issue lately where when I try to step on it, it barely goes anywhere and if I keep my foot in it, it will hit a weird powerband kind of feeling. This happened a while ago for about a day, but I put some injector cleaner ˟˟˟˟ in the tank and it cleared up. What could this be?

I should add it's got around 230,xxx miles on it and it smokes when I start it. Sometimes it will sputter when I start it or take a few seconds of cranking to start and I have to give it gas to start it.

Mine also does that. Feels like a two-stroke. No power at low revs, once you wind it up, it pulls like a bat out of hell. 350,000+ miles, my motor is in good shape though, previous owner says a top end rebuild was done, and I believe him. No smoke except after accelerating after engine braking down a reaaaaaaalllyyyyy long grade. Subscribed because I'm curious to see if anyone has any ideas.

Check your radiator for gunk. Smokey tailpipes usually aren't good. Steamy is okay, smokey is bad. Indicative of a head gasket getting close to failure.

It smells like oil, figured it was from the 230,xxx miles on it. And it doesn't eat any coolant.

Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, fuel filter, air filter, compression test wet and dry. At what rpm does it happen?

Like mentioned above. Clean your Plenum, ports, check all hoses, and make sure you dont have any vacuum leaks. Dont mess with the Throttle Position Sensor, just leave it attached to your Throttle Body. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...l#post52147101 Here is what I tear down to get all of the carbon build up out. With as many miles as you have, you are going to have carbon everywhere and alot of build up. It will take 2-3 hours to tear down clean and reassemble. Once I have the Plenum off, I take it to the carwash to clean out the interior of the Plenum.
