22re VS. 22RET

Are the internals of a 22re meaning crank rods pistons etc. the same as a 22ret? I found a hellauva deal on a 22ret and was just going to swap the turbo onto my 22re in my truck....But I would assume that the ret would have a forged rotating assembly...last question is how much boost do they make?

i believe the 22ret has a few different components from what i gather, most 22re parts sites have different parts for 22re or 22ret.

About 7psi of boost on the stock CT-20 turbo. Couldn't tell you about the internals, my friend who did my truck ran into the same issue... He decided to swap the whole motor and drivetrain.

thanks for the replies I may just got that route cuz it doesnt look to be that much of a PITA to just swap motors which would leave me with a 22ret 5speed =)...Im picking the motor up for $100 it needs a headgasket which i will take care of when i get it

The cranks are the same but the pistons are different. I don't know about the rods though. Been a long time since I had a turbo.

im sure that the engine is modified to accomodate the boost. If I were you, i would just swap in the 22RET, as it just keeps everything a lot simpler

Pistons are dished for lower compression, head has a larger combustion chamber size (89cc vs 54cc I think)an again, lowering compression.
