22re rebuilt engine?

I just bought a 91 Toyota 4x4 22re 5spd. It has a rod knock, i'm going to tear into tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy a long block with a decent warranty and with good quality reasonable priced.?
I have found a few on ebay but im not sure of there quality... I have no issues rebuilding it myself but if i can buy one rebuilt for what i'll have in rebuilding mine and get a warranty i'd rather go that route.

I can say sure as hell dont use ebay.

you got
engnblder.com
lc engineering
22re performance

Do research and read reviews for each one carefully.

I would order from engnbldr myself without hesitation.

I dont know of anyone on here that went ebay.

I am really happy with the place I mentioned above. Dont want to sound like a testes swinger....but Im a grumpy man at times and for me to stand up for a company means I trust em.

I sold my DD dakota today. I'm driving my trail rig til i get the 91 done. I dont want to do anything twice or get ripped off. I really appreciate the positive feedback for these companys. I've checked all the sites you mentioned above. LC is pretty pricey for my pockets, I also know you get what you pay for.

I got the engine out and torn down. What i found was the thrust bearing was gone so the crank walked back an forth and trashed the block. I'm unfortunately in need of atleast a short block at this point.

Ok its been a 5 month project here.. To date I had torn down the original engine, sent it out to a local machine shop. They checked everything and said block and crank are good. Had them go ahead and go thru everything. Head, new cam 261 crawler, new pistons, reconditioned the rods, polish crank, hone and deck the block, deck the new timing cover.
At this point everything is new and almost done. I have a few odds and end things to pick up this friday and she will go back in the truck next weekend.

My question... Toyota does not give a coldbspec on the valve adjustments, should I set them loose a couple thousandths and readjust after the warm up?
Also is the a special oil I should run to break the cam in intially? Like something with added zinc?

Engine is in and up and running. Valves are alot louder than I like but I will wait until engine break in is done before adjusting them.

Good deal on the engine rebuild, hope it brings you many miles more!
Hoping my 22RE hangs in there, but always good to hear of success stories!
