22re oil pump/smog related
hey guys so i ran into sort of a problem when i went to smog my truck a little while ago... passed all the emmisions but they said the timing scale was broken and that they couldnt smog it without it. so i called around to see if someone would no bites..
then i went on a bought a new oil pump (which has the timing scale on it) and it went on perfectly and looks exactly the same as the old one except that the part that sticks out over the harmonic balancer is too low or close to the last pulley or the one that is closest to the back of the car stopping me from being able to put the belt on...
after further inspection it looks like my last timing scale was heated up with a torch and broken off... anyways im not sure what to do from here. any ideas are welcome
thanks,
brandon

Any chance you have the wrong harmonic balancer / crankshaft pulley? http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../8timingch.pdf That could explain why the last timing scale was broken / torched off when that "wrong" pulley was installed.

hmmm never thought about that, maybe ill take it into toyota and compare. the first two pullies closest to the front of the truck are the same size and then the 3rd one (closest to the back) is a little bit bigger.
