22re no start

22re no start
so here's the story, let someone borrow my truck, got it back and now it just wont start!
87 22re pickup 2x2 EFI
i believe fuel pump is good, (i hear it turning on when turning key)
replaced the fuel filter
fuel is getting into the cylinders (sparkplugs are wet when pulled)
PLENTY of spark
cleaned the spark plugs
all relays seem to be working
replaced TPS (due to tps error code)
sufficient compression
i don't know what could cause this i've tried to start it with starting fluid when i do so it will slightly rev for a second during crank but no actual start
im running out of soloutions i feel like its gotta be something super simple but i just cant think of anything else that would cause this any suggestions?
would be GREATLY appreciated!

Did they drive it back over to your house working fine?
You said you checked fire and fuel.
Pull fuel line before injectors, place in cup secured with rags around cup, turn over, got gas? Is it gas, right (not k-1 et al.).
Pull a plug, reattach ignition wire, secure away from things, have someone watching, turn over, got spark?
Is the fire order correct? I mark my wires with whiteout or a white grease marker.
It’s hard to jump timing with a chain so… is your distributor cap where it is suppose to be.
Apologies if these suggestions are off base. I’m not a mechanic, just a shadetree diy.
Oh, maybe check the rotor button while fool’n with the distributor cap.

rotor button? as in where the rotor contacts the cap?
ive already done a thorough check on spark and fuel
the people i let borrow my truck towed it to my house saying the day i asked for it back it stopped running... i dont believe that so maybe they fooled with the spark plug wires? that would explain why its getting spark and fuel but maybe just at the wrong time

Impossible to say if you don’t know what they did to it.
Assuming nothing is broken…
Check all the fuses yet?
Find a friend with a code reader. Any trouble codes?
Are your ignition wires/fire order correct yet?
87 Deathtrap describes how to do timing here.

Yes, the rotor button is the little deal that sits on the end of the distributor shaft and spins inside the distributor cap. Distributor cap wet inside?
If things are broken, you will need to know how to check all sorts of gizmos with acronyms. I don’t know how. But in the short time I’ve been here, I’ve seen people post about them lots. I’m sure you are searching and reading the other ‘won’t start’ threads.
Have you checked the oil for coolant and coolant for oil? Maybe they blew the head.
