So i have an 86 22re runner that we just stuck a new motor in. Replaced a mess of sensors and switches, and everything on the cooling system is new. She starts and idles like a champ, same as driving slow without any load. After giving it more throttle with a sustained load, it starts heating up and missing. Never gets into the red, but often sits between 3/4 and hot, mainly only on the freeway. no mix of oil/water. new TPS (adjusted correctly), plugs and wires, fuel filter, cap/rotor... no check codes. wondering if it might be vacuum lines? I've spent so much time on this its not even funny. a little help would be beyond appreciated.

Your "overheating" issue is probably due to a stuck thermostat or air pockets in the system. If you're concerned about vacuum lines, take some carb cleaner and spray around the engine bay when the engine is cold to detect any leaks..

I know its not the tstat, as i've tried 3 and boiled to check function. I bled it for air bubbles, so i've ruled that one out also. it runs fine until under a load, idles like a charm.
ex. goin into a headwind on the freeway. then it starts missing at anything other than idle. let it sit and it cools right down.
I had a full toyota manual for this thing, pushed the dist. in just like it said. the vac lines were goofy as sin when i bought this thing, no vac modulator + nothing on egr. so lines are likely incorrect. seems every diagram i see is different.
