22re Homemade EGR/PAIR Block Off Plates Clean Engine Bay
When putting my 22re back together after the rebuild, I did not want to have to deal with all the vacuum lines to all the emissions, they also covered my newly painted engine and make things hard to access. We don't do emissions here anyway so being too cheap to buy a kit, and being a DIY person I traced out the gaskets on a piece of 1/4" steel plate and cut my own out with an angle grinder. This was a great cheap alternative to purchasing a block off kit.
I also replaced the crank case breather line with a breather filter, I still have the PCV line connected, but it does not take in enough air (if any) to cause any problems. Also there has been no pinging or any other problems from no EGR so far. I still have all my emissions stuff in case it is ever needed in the future.
Homemade exhaust air injector block off plates
Homemade EGR block of plate test fit before painting.
Gaskets traced onto 1/4 steel plate, ready to be cut.
Engine bay after smog delete.
