22re high eratic idle when cold

Hello guys, my Yota has started to act wierd during these cold times... when the engine is cold it idles very high 2000-2500 rpm and some times it fluctuates (sometimes 500 rpm's, somtimes less) I'm not quite sure what's wrong with it but I have had thoughts about the MAF sensor and the TPS... Have you guys any thoughts... Is it possible to get the computer of the car diagnosed...
When it gets to normal opperating temparture it idles just like it came from the factory. as a champ
This is really confusing.

Sorry for my bad english.

Best regards from Icecold land....

Could this problem be related to the radiator having low cooling water...
Also does anyone have a picture of them wires/plugs that are connected to the TPS wire.

Best regards.
Kris.

Well I did fill my radiator and it started acting normal, them my radiator started leaking and it started to act like that again, so i changed the radiator and i think there is still some air in the cooling system. Is there any CTS sensor in/on 22Re Toyota engine ?

Best regards.

Before you go spending your money on a MAF or a TPS,
Spend $20 and get a Coolant temperature sensor.
That fixed mine when i was having this trouble.

Best of luck.

Where is this coolant temp sensor located ?
I'll check it out next week.

Did your Yota act similar to mine Bojangles ?

Best regards
Kris.

Depends...Is it a 22RE or a 3.0?

On the 22RE its on the front of the motor, towards the passenger side.

Mine did act similar, and i say 20 bucks is worth a shot before you go paying big money for a tps or a maf.

Thanks for the kindness.
You don't have a picture of that sensor and the wire/plug that connects to it ?

Best regards
Kris..

The Idle Air Control Valve controls cold idle, it's probably located on the opposite side of the Throttle Position Sensor. I'm not sure how it is on the yota, if it has coolant lines running to it, and you are low on coolant, it will malfunction. It may get a signal from the Coolant Temp. Sensor, but usually they have in and out coolant lines that connect to the throttle body. My vote is to get that leak fixed!

The leak has already been fixed with a new aluminium radiator. But maybe it's just the cold weather here in Iceland that makes it act this strange because after it has warmed up it idles fine at 800-1000 RPM and is steady.
