22re Help...
I am soo frustrated I am about to sell my truck!! haha...
1986 4runner 22re.
Bought it 6 months ago (no smog) I know my mistake.
Took it to smog, didn't pass. It was running lean at idle and rich while running... had a smog shop here diagnose it they said:
everything was working correctly, vac lines, carbon box, air intake computer thing, etc.
Needed:
1) Timing. It was at 15d BTDC. They took it to 5.
2) Valve adjustment.
3) Exhaust manifold fix (too many leaks, making the O2 censor not read correctly).
4) New Cat.
Done:
1)Timing.
2)Valves.
3) Exhaust manifold (pulled it off, found out it was cracked, replaced manifold all gaskets no more audible leaks)
4) new spark plugs (toyota) and wires
Haven't done the new Cat yet because if it is still running as rich at high RPM as it was, they told me that it would burn up the new Cat.
Since, I have run into a couple of problems... ie, threw the crank pully bolt, 2 stripped studs for the exhaust manifold... among other small "annoyances..."
Now, after all my "fixes" the car will not idle enough for me to even check the timing again. I dont know how or why the timing could have been effected from the fixes I did, but I think it did? Wont idle properly, lacks power, cant even drive the damn'd thing a block.
Any ideas of what I can check to get this hunk running again?
Thanks... sorry for the rant.
