22re gas mileage bad...
My 86 4runner is not getting very good gas milage at all. Its getting about 130-140 miles to a full tank and there is no leaks anywhere and seems to run great anyone have any tips on fixing or improving gas milage?

Well, you haven't tried...
... so ....
I guess aggressively driving my Firebird and getting about 10 mpg, then being light on the throttle and getting nearly 20 means nothing... after all, it's a 400 cubic inch V8, not a 2.4 Litre 4 cylinder.

.....dude when ive had v6's that got better gas mialge and drove them the same way normally its not the freakin driver. I had an 88 3.0 5-speed 4runner and it got about 240-270 miles to a tank which is good for a v6 and it had 289,000 Miles on it. My truck i drive now the gray one in pic, i drive exact same way as my old 88 3.0 and its only getting me alittle over 100 miles to a tank no leaks of fuel. so yea. Gearing up at around 2000-2500 rpm

so you have a truck that burns some extra fuel. I'm guessing you have checked your timing, plug gaps, compression... no?
Your cold start injector isn't leaking?
Should I continue?

Timing is perfect and plugs as well, compression i have not checked due to lack of equipment. If the compressions off its not by much cause it runs superb

I've driven a 2cyl engine that gets anywhere between 5 mpg and 40 mpg (depending on how it's driven) and you're gonna tell me that by default a 4cyl should get better mileage than a 6 cyl?

I appreciate the argument but it's led us nowhere.
I can get 20 MPG out of my 88 (my avatar) driving around town. I shift early and don't hit the throttle hard.
Maybe the fact I'm anal-retentive about timing, TPS adjustments, etc. helps.

eh well I supose i could try going easier on the old girl since shes pretty old and high miles. I think i'll try shifting earlier and seeing if i get a difference...
