22RE exhaust leak, wont tighten up??
hey guys, this truck has an exhaust leak right where the manifold bolts to the first exhaust pipe. theres two gaskets that you put in there. one was bad so we replaced it and it still leaked! then we tried tightening one side first to pull the leaking side to close and also taking it off the rubber muffler hanger and this other bracket with a U-bolt type fastener. could the exhaust pipe be warped or something?? any help is appreciated, thanks!!
this is the pipe im talking about, it wont tighten up on the left end

One thing to try is taking the gasgets out and wrapping them both with Grafoil tape then reinstalling. Not sure if u can get it at the auto parts store or not but u can get it at amazon.

I have the same leak. What size gaskets do you buy? Are they called donuts?

I had the same leak on mine for years. No matter what gaskets i used and i even tried some welding to make it fit better. It seems to be a weak point. My best advice, just get a header, and eliminate that piece all together, and with a header you will also gain some power. I wish now i had put the header on a long time ago and saved myself the trouble of dealing with those gaskets.
