you sure that #2 plug is actually firing? pull that plug out attach it to the plug wire and ground the tip to something and see if it's actually firing. Maybe you just have a bad spark plug. or the wire is bad.

First make sure the wires to the injectors are plugged in tight, then with the engine running use a long screwdriver and put the tip on the each injector one at a time with the handle to your ear(watch your hair and clothing!!!!!) You should be able to hear them clicking as they open and close.
You could also try checking the resistance on all of the injectors. If the number 2 injector is way off from the other ones then it is a very likely culprit. I think they should measure between 13-14.5 ohms. If all the injectors pass this test you could use a noid light to make sure the injector is actually getting a pulse signal. There may be a short in the wiring somwhere. You should be able to rent a noid light kit at an auto part store.

I think I remember reading about how early EFI's had some issues with the wiring to the injectors. I'd do a search for that and see if there's any info that would be useful.

Have you rulled out your ignition 100%? Ohm out your high tension leads to the plugs

alright,im ready to set this f%$@#! on fire.changed the injectors, not only is #2 not ticking, now #3 is leaking fuel.im pretty sure that i can ohm check my injector wires with them all disconnected, but have never done this before, im assuming that i wrecked an o-ring during the process.please give me some direction/opinion so i dont have to do this again....please.:mad 2:

You can get new o-rings at NAPA, so don't worry about that.

Make sure the ground wire for the injectors is clean, and not cut or damaged. It connects to the passenger side of the intake plenum, attached to a mounting nut that joins the intake plenum to the lower intake. its clearly visible without removing anything.

I've read some issues about the wiring connectors, where the wires run into the harnesses, at the injectors becoming loose. Try searching for "injector wiring 22re" on google or something.

Just curious, have you checked compression on cylinders?

22re dead miss

allright, i tore it apart again and replaced the o-rings,removed the fuel pump fuse and turned on the ignition, useing a 12v tester i checked the injector connector for power,it has power, put everything back together, started it up,still missing.found a place and rented a noid light kit,no signal!!! im kind of stumped now as of what to look for,so what i know now is that if i had a bad ground,i would have no power on all cylinders, correct? so is my next step to take it apart,AGAIN,and follow the harness back to look for a break in the wire? which wire would be the one that signals the injector? my f#@^&ng head hurts.....

i tore into the wiring harness last night and found the crimp on the ground crumbled in my fingers...so i cut out the bad section on both ends, soldered the two ground wires from the acu to the four injector ground wires.ready for this, now im down two 2 cylinders!!!!!!wtf. checked the other leads and the blue injector leads were also corroded.repaired that one,no change.i havent gone as far as pulling that damn plenum off for the third time.now, all 4 grounds from the injector run together and are spliced into the two wires in the harness, am i correct?? and the injector firing wires (two yellow & two blue) also tie into the harness (one yellow & one blue)can anyone verify what im saying is correct? thanx...again!!

ive gone back and soldered everything together and i think im down to one cylnder firing!!!just so you know,i do have a haynes manual but am not an electrician. im seriously pissed.
