22re coolant hoses under intakeM. - any ideas?

Ok, so i got this pinhole leak in the larger of the two coolant hoses under the thermostat housing at the bootom side of the intake manifold. NOT fun to get to.

It looks like the PO has not changed it in a long time. Kinda lumpy for a hose. I also question the routing as i don't think it matches the guide in the link below.

Anybody have any good ideas or tips?

At some point i want to do a tear down and rebuild/replace all the stuff on this motor but winter is on my doorstep, i have no garage and i need to get to work so it'll have to wait.

There's an access panel on the passenger side wheel well you can take off and have a really clean shot at those hoses. Don't know what to say about the routing. Check the FSM.

x2 on going thru the wheel well. It sounds like you're talking about the 'U' shaped hose underneath everything. You shouldn't have much problem with accessing it if you remove the wheel. I wish I had that option last year when that hose busted on mine going down the road.

If you need them I can loan you some of the new cuss words I made up while I was replacing mine in a parking lot.

Ahh, of course the wheel well access panel! I totally forgot about it! I used that when i replaced the fuel filter last year. My jeep cj7 was much much roomier and less complicated in the front end.

Thanks Folks

Yep it's that U shaped one. Do i have to go moulded or cAn i just use what ihave on the bench?

No you need the molded hose. The bend is too tight and if you try and use a straight hose it will just kink.

Ill check out my manual, when i find it.

Im glad i asked or i would have had to use those cuss words to get that hose on there.

A spring in the hose would keep it from kinking, if i had to...
