87 4runner with 22re and w56. I've checked my fsm for slave cylinder travel specs and can find nothing.
Here's the problem, clutch won't disengage fully when pedal to floor. Slave was replaced last year, clutch has maybe 60,000kms on it. Before I go replacing clutch master or clutch and pressure plate I'd like to verify I'm getting full travel at the piston (release lever to be precise)
Anyone know what that travel should be?

the pedal freeplay should be i think 1" or somewhere around there..i dunno what the piston travel would be...

Found that spec and everything seems good, bracket is good too, clutch just won't fully release making driving in town a bitch.

I have, I know it's fine. I'd just rather know of it's the master or the actual clutch acting up.

There is a bleeder valve on the slave. Put your thumb on it and loosen it, have someone press the pedal, if there isn't a hefty amount of pressure, if it doesn't push buy your thumb pretty easy, your master is bad. If it seems good, take your slave off and inspect it, if that's good, pull tyranny and inspect.

Just so you know, free travel on a hydraulic clutch can be a mis-nomer. Check the rod free travel at the master cylinder. You have to crawl under the dash to see it. This is where the rod coming off the pedal linkage hits the cylinder piston. Basically, you want it where there is JUST clearance. As in almost touching, but not quite. Think of a lever, a little clearance at the rod means a lot more clearance at the pedal.

I get that, just wanted to know how far the slave piston should be moving. It's irrelevant now as the problem has been diagnosed as a bad master cylinder.
