22RE - Auto- Tune Up Q's
I have to get my '91 ready for winter for the next few months and I was curious as to what things I should do as far as a tune up goes.
- spark plugs
- oil/oil filter
- air filter
- fuel filter
Anything else?

Tools needed : 12mm socket to get valve cover bolts off, 12mm wrench, flathead screwdriver and a set of feeler gauges.
Remove the valve cover, rotate engine clockwise (from a looking at the front of truck point of view) until the timing mark on the crank pulley is at the "0" mark on ur front crank seal/oil pump housing and the mark on the cam sprocket is pointed straight up. Check and make sure the valves on #1 cyl are loose and the valves on #4 are tight, that indicates u are on #1 TDC (top dead center). Adjust the intake valves (valves on the left) to .007" on cylinders #1 and #2. Adjust the exhaust valves (valves on the right) to .009" on cylinders #1 and #3. Rotated the engine one full revolution until your timing marks align again

Here, have some homework, Vato!
Check your plug wires.
Remove distributor cap and check the rotor - typical tune-up part to replace. If the cap has damage/evidence of arcing, cracks...replace that, too.
Grease your zerks. Clean and grease your battery terminals. Check your wiring at the starter if you can, see if it's clean.
Check your PCV valve (remove it, check for rattle. $6 to replace, if it has been a while just do it or you risk your rear main seal....).
Check the vacuum hoses in that vicinity.
Check that your differential breathers are ok. My rear end blew out (previous owner) and it may have been because of this. Use "Search" for that topic.
Check your oil levels (tranny, T case, diffs...).
