Its not as bad of a job as it looks. Just make sure you label everything and/or take pics with a digital camera. After you get the upper plenum off you will have to remove the fuel line and pull the whole fuel rail off. Might as well check all the injectors (not a bad idea to replace them all at once also) and replace all the "o"rings. Be careful not to pinch the "o"rings putting them back in the rail when you reinstall it. The injectors should spin somewhat easily with the rail tightend down. I had to redo it twice in one day because of pinched and leaking "o"rings. make sure you hook everything back up and that the wiring harness grounding bundle is cleaned and tightened down between the intake runners. good luck

New Injector & Still Problems

Ok i replaced the 4th cylinder fuel injector and started it up, now i have a high idle even with the idle screw all the way in and it keeps surging, and the 4th cylinder spark plug keeps getting fauled out. all new spark plugs also. i am not sure what changed or if there is a vaccum leak.

any ideas

well after taken stuff apart for 2 days in a row, we found out that the place who rebuilt the head for us did not set the valves at what they should have been. once we fixed the valves the motor ran a 100 times better.

but now the new problem is, we have a high idle even with the idle screw all the way in. any ideas? seems like a vacuum leak but cant find one!

Do you have a vacuum gauge?

Try spraying starting fluid all over the engine.

And, if you don't have enough coolant in the engine it will surge like that. Good luck!

Make sure the ignition timing is dead on.......... x2 on the coolant level.........
Did you replace the upper plenum gasket when you pulled it off?

When you jump the diagnostic port for timing is there an audible difference in the engine sound, or better yet hook up the timing light and watch the timing marks retard while going into base timing.
