22r turbo?
ive searched and searched, and the results i come up with dont help me at all.
is it impossible to turbo charge the 22r in my 87? i dont want to swap an efi in because 1 i cant afford another engine plus mods, and 2 i dont have the tools to do that.

yes you can turbo a carb'd truck. But unless you know what you are doing it's very risky. Not to mention everything piping related with the exception of a turbo exhaust manifold, everything will need to be custom. Also it might be impossible to get the fuel tuning correct with the factory carb and will most likely have to switch to a weber so you can completely rejet the carb.

The trans you have now (g-series) won't work. And not sure about the transfer case (gear driven) you have now works directly with the trans you need to bolt up to the rte.

I built a 20-22r turbo motor for a celica that would wax fox 5.0 mustangs all day. all I did is swap a 350 holley carb build a turbo header and boost reference the mechanical fuel pump. I only ran 7psi no intercooler stock ''parts dinosaur pistons and clevite77 barings. the motor ran great only problem I had was blowing the diaphragm in the distributor. that would cut the ignition timing and kill all boosted power. I want to say I was boosted for under $300
