22R carb question

My 1988 extra-cab longbed truck failed the smog test recently, so i changed the o2 sensor, oil and plugs and it again failed the re-test. So i'm thinking the carb is shot, it idles poorly and the exhaust smells rich. The carbs I see listed on feebay show them as being for 1981-86. Were the carbs different for '88? -thanks in advance

abecedarian-
thnx for reply. i'm actually in so cal as well near ontario. i will dig up the smog test results and post them later this afternoon/evening.
i do know off-hand that the smog re-test #'s were actually worse! and this was after replacing the o2 sensor. go figure.

no problems. was asking where you are 'cause I have a carburetor from an 88 I have no use for and wouldn't mind selling.

not knowing what part of the test failed, it's hard to say what the issue might be. so some quick things you can check that may affect your idle would be the fuel level in the float chamber- there's a sight glass on the side and fuel should be middle of the glass, and check that the choke is pulling off and not sticking shut.

let me know the condition and how much $.
also here's the smog test #'s, the re-test did worse...
