22R to 22RE in an 84 progress
First off I am posting this here for 3 reasons..
1. There are alot more readers in the 86-95 section then the 85-85 (why are they separate any how)
2. You guys know more about EFI then the 84-85
3. Keep me on the right track so hopefully the rig won't have much down time.
What I am starting with
1984 California 4runner
Parts
I have wiring harness and EFI parts from an 85 Toyota Celica
I am planning on stripping down the harness and just adding the engine harness, since the harness i have is from a celica.
So far I have stripped out the headlights and the alternator wiring.
Any suggestions?

One issue you may come across is that most Celica's with 22RE EFI used an analog EFI setup through 85, however most 85's were digital ... and then the Celica went FWD in 86 and the Supra became its own chassis ... but that's not for here. All of the trucks and 4Runners, if not carbureted or diesel, used digital EFI. So keep that in mind when you have to replace parts.
As for why the 84-85 trucks are in a forum separate from the 86-95, it's because of the chassis. 84-85 have leaf springs up front and 86 on have independent front suspension (a-arms, torsion bars instead of leafs, etc) and in 85 (well technically 84), Toyota changed the 22R/RE engine so it's not exactly the same as the later 22R/RE engine.
Considering how many people with 86+ trucks change the IFS for leafs, I'm not sure why they continue to be separate forums since that work usually requires 85- parts. Oh well.
