22 re throttle hanging
Did some searching but it seemed inconclusive. A few days ago my throttle started hanging around 2000 rpm. A quick blip would return it to regular rpm but this is getting annoying. The pedal is returning completely it seems to be sticking the last 1/8 inch of the return on the throttle body. I took a few coils out of the return spring and it is better but still happening. I also lubed all the springs with a dry lube. Cable is now adjusted all the way by the throttle body and i also lubed the cable.

Taking a few coils out of the return spring is the last thing you want to do, by doing that your making it easier for the throttle to stay open. The proper thing to do is remove the throttle body and give it a good cleaning, and also inspect the throttle cable and make sure it moves freely.

Mine has done the same thing. Check and see if the valve at the end of the dashpot is letting air out when you ease off the throttle. Mine was clogged and was holding the throttle up. Hit it with a compressor and it has not done it since.
Btw. Mine only did this on long trips. I wondered if the throttle cable was sticking. When I had it stick at 2000 rpm, I popped the hood and noticed the dashpot was tough to return to it's original position.

This happens to me too. I lubed the dashpot, throttle spring, and used graphite in the cable....still sticks once in a while. I think it's the cable just getting old and sticky. Doesn't happen enough for me to want to replace it, and I have many other more important things to fix on my truck before I go there
But curious how you solve it, all the same....good luck!

I had this problem with my 4runner. I searched for days to figure out the stick. Pulled the throttle cable, it moved freely, so I thought it was good. Ended up just replacing it, and that was the problem

Man, now you will have me keeping an eye on the throttle cable. But it doesn't do it in everyday driving. Makes it tougher to keep track of.
