1'st gen 4runner QUICK fuel line/ FPR help! (Rich running issue)
I've been a yotatech fan/lurker for almost 5 years now and yet never posted. Over this period the forum has successfully walked me through three head gasket jobs, an efi swap, two motor swaps, and countless rear window/ball joint/cv axles, etc...
Although the immense amount of knowledge on here has always provided me with an answer to my questions I have now reached a dead end that I can't seem to resolve through searching. That being said, I'm sure this will be an easy problem for most of you...
So here it is; I just finished a head gasket on the 22re in my 1987 4runner. After completing the job and reassembling the top end I started it to find that it is blowing very thick black smoke out the exhaust. This is obviously due to a very rich running issue and I assume it's because I improperly installed a fuel line. In an attempt to deal with this I used 4crawler's trick and eliminated the blue and green vsv... Still no change.
So here's a pic of where I think my problem is. This fuel line shown here comes off the firewall where it's hooked up to a hard line that goes back to the gas tank. I have the other end Hooked into the large connection on the FPR but as you can see the line is long enough that it seems to be in the wrong place.
A little more info, The vacuum line coming off the FPR is routed directly to the three port vacuum spot on the end of the intake.
So where is this line SUPPOSED to be routed? And is it likely the cause of my rich running issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just what is this FPR thing??
Did you not reinstall the fuel filter ??
If you bypassed the filter it is possible your injectors could be one or all are now being held open by dirt.
If you got the fuel pressure line and the return line swapped most often it doesn`t run.
Cold start injector spraying fuel all the time from dirt in injector or a electrical problem.
could be one or more cylinders not firing dumping the unburned fuel into the exhaust.
