1JZ turbo Supra motor and tranny in a 86 pickup

Found a deal on a 86 with a supra turbo motor and tranny in it for 1800. Does anyone know or have heard about another truck like this? If so how well did it turn out?

funny... the xJZ started in 1990, didn't it?

edit- maybe not so hard to believe, a 1990 engine in an 86.

the 1JZ put out near 200 hp... so I imagine it is far better than stock on that side. Downside being that the rest of the driveline in the 86 truck wasn't meant to handle that much power. The 1JZ peak power was way up high though, so maybe it wouldn't shock the truck driveline that much...?

The 1jz puts out about 280 hp. I'd love to have one in my 87, wouldn't ever get much traction though . If you search i've seen a couple of members who have swapped a 1jz in a 2nd gen 4runner and 2jz in a 3rd gen pickup both 4wd.

All I see, the 1JZ is just shy of 200 hp, the 2JZTE puts out approximately 300.

I see you didn't specify 'which' 1JZ was in the Letsus SC(whaddafrickever)
well... the 1JZE was not turbo'd, so... the 1JZTE was.

I'm talking about the 1JZGTE twin turbo engine, which is what this whole thread is about, nothing was ever mentioned about the 1JZGE.\ non-turbo.

so now the thread topic is reigning supreme over what you and I were exchanging ideas about?
I said the 1JZ put out about 200, you said the 1JZ put out 280 hp
neither of us were initially specific with regards to turbo, with or without

so let's both suck up our waistbands and shut up.

pm 'sLACKER' Corey has been building a hot Rod 2wd with a custom frame with a Supra engine in it.

I would suggest you check out the truck very closely. I see trucks on craigslist periodically with similar conversions that say 'I just have too many projects and this one needs to go' Which translates into, I got in over my head and don't know WTF to do so i am cutting my losses....

i think the 1jz swap would be the best pick, 7mgte has some small problems , , u can get parts but i think a 1jz is a better engine STOCK, and the 2jz is to expensive so id say the winner would be a 1jz out the 3 supra engines. if u plan on staying stock 200ish-400 go 1jz, if ur going 400-600 go 7mgte, if ur going to go crazy high above 600 go 1jz, what im saying is 1jz parts are harder to find but at the very end the 1jz wins , idk if that makes sense research it some, i totally support the idea and i think itd be badass build. id be very intersted
