so i recently got a 1994 toyota pickup 22r. i want to start making it trail friendly lol. i was going to put ATs on it, but i bought it with almost new tires, so im going to wait to do that. but in the mean time, what are some things to do that wont cost an assload of money?

A stock 4x4's plenty trail friendly... get out there and wheel and enjoy yourself. I have no idea what kind of terrain youre gonna be on, but these trucks are suprisingly capable out of the box... that said, the first mod you should do if you're going anywhere near water is the diff breather extension mod

lol what on earth is that? ive gone a few times and in the truck with some friends, one who has a 2006 tacoma with a 4 inch lift on 33 MTs. He got stuck several times, and mine didnt once. These trucks are unstopable lol

It keeps the diffs from sucking water inside when youre in deep water for too long...search it up, theres a couple writeups on here somewhere...

Why don't you search and find out, it prevents water from getting into your diffs.

You could always get a rear diff out of a 4 cylinder rig and swap it in with an Aussie. If you have 4.10 gears they are easy as pie to find. There are even some 4.56's out there from 4 cylinder rigs that will work the same way.

So the 4 cyl 3rd fits straight into the v6 housing? I did not knows that...

I am 99.9% sure that they will interchange if the year models are between 1986 and 1995.5. I bought a set of 4.56 diffs (ifs front) from a 94 4runner that had the 4 cylinder in it and stuffed an Aussie in the rear when I did the swap.

If you are running 4.10's and you were closer I've got one in the garage that I'd give you just to get it out of the way.

Damn...I wish... I think I got 4.56s anyways, but thanks. I'm probably just gonna wait until they release the v6 one...or save up for an arb air locker

and since it was sort of ignored-
the diff breather operates like this:
going down the road the diff heats up, air inside expands as it heats up and excess air is pushed out of the diff...
now if the diff cools down, the air inside contracts...
if the diff is underwater, water gets sucked in instead of air...
so if you're going into the water, make sure the breather inlet is above the water line.
