1993 W56 transfer case on a 1990 W56?

I need to replace the transfer case of my 1990 pickup and I'd like to know if the transfer case from my former 1993 pickup (with a 22RE/W56 with two shifter plates on top and speed sensor) could be installed on my 1990 W56 (with one shifter plate and mechanical speedo).

It can but it won't fit right and your shifter holes will be off in your truck.

You have a top shift tranny/tcase and need the same.

Both shifters on both transmissions are located on the top of the transmission (not on the transfer case) but there's one single plate with two holes for the shifters on the 1990 W56 while there's one plate for each shifter (also both on the top of the transmission) on the 1993 W56, which look more similar to those on my 1993 R150F.

You can always swap both the transmission and the transfer case as a pair, that way they match for sure. That is if your other W56 is good.

Sounds like both are forward shift then.

Some pics would do wonders.

I'm afraid that it might have suffered from being stored outside for two years...

I just read a few posts on this forum and I might be wrong about the 1993 transmission. I thought it was the same but since my 1993 truck had A.D.D. it should be a G58 with a chain driven transfer case?

R150F's have top shift t-case and no cover plates
