1993 Toyota Pickup 22RE Exhaust?
Recently drove from Fort Campbell to Nashville and back. When I got off the highway outside the post gate, the exhaust was a hell of a lot louder than when I left. Exhaust leak... right around the cat.
It already needed replacing, but it wasn't bad so I was procrastinating. Looking to replace the exhaust pipe and muffler. I know nothing about exhaust, especially on these trucks.
What would be the best course of action to maintain my DELIGHTFUL 26 mpg, yet possibly bring up the noise from a buzzing fart sound to something a little bit more...manly?
OEM parts? Ive been pointed in the direction of flowmaster mufflers and been told all sorts of pipe diameters. 2.25 in has been the common number thrown my way.
'lil help?

A while back I had an NWOR header, freeflow cat, and jardine exhaust on my 22re. It was a 2.25 system and it made that buzzing fart sound come out more like a swarm of louder buzzing fart sounds. There may be mufflers out there that can make that 22re sound more manly but my guess is it will sound more like a honda lol.
One thing I will say is before you go ordering an exhaust kit for it make sure it didn't break at the bottom of the stock exhaust manifold. That's where I've had several break there and if that's the case a new exhaust system won't help you any. Good luck with the project!
