1992 pickup water jetting from timing cover gasket
Hey fellas, I'm new to the forum and hope I'm where I'm supposed to be.I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a pressurized stream of water coming from the timing chain coverj? The leak is on left side about same height as water pump. I have water in oil and oil in water...gut tells me head gasket but would love to hear some other points of view. Any info would be appreciated. Many thanks

Make sure you get metal timing chain guides when purchasing your parts.
If it was me I'd probably have the guides done or see about getting a new or rebuilt head FROM A REPUTABLE SOURCE.

As far as recommendations.... how many miles are on the engine and what other work has been done to it?
Im not as good at explaining things as some of the guys on here. I did my head gasket 3 years after my timing chain broke. I didn't have any extra money or time to throw at it so all I did extra was a new water pump. Got my gaskets and bolts from engnbuilder, which I highly recommend.
Take lots of pictures, follow the fsm, post updates and questions here.

Thanks for all the great info guys! The engine has 250 k on her. Timing belt and gasket done at 130 k..the only thing I have done other than , is clutch slave cylinder and routine maintenance. Can't. Afford to put in the shop this time , so I am attempting this overhaul.
Rgr tht Badger...I will continue to take pictures and I'm sure there will be a lot of questions! Many many thanks for all the help so far!

I would suggest taking the head to the machine shop and have them to check that it is flush and no cracks. I wouldn't spend to much on machine work as a new head can be had for $250ish. With that many miles, some of the water ports are most likely corroded. If you have the head shaved, take them the Timing cover as well.
A good thread to go thru https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...cement-212688/ for some insight.

Hey fellas, finally got around to taking the head to my local machine shop. Seems my water jackets are cocorroded and looks very close to gasket ring. Is this common? Of course he has a new complete head for $350. Resurfacing seems to be a crap shoot, so is dropping a few hundred on a new head my best bet? Now im worried that something else will be broke. How hard is it to test or see that the block is cracked ? Just worried ill be wasting Money on a basket case. Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks guys !

Went ahead and bought the new head...the head gasket went smooth and no leaks to be found. I then went to set timing , first off I could not get the jumper to change idle , so im wondering if TPS bad...also getting 24 and 31 diagnostic codes. She idles ok but any pedal makes it run rough. Under load it has very little power. Is this a timing issue or are the codes making her run bad ? Should a new tps be the first move? Any insight is appreciated . Thanks guys
