1990 Toyota Xtra Cab BUILD
So here's the deal. About a year ago I got my hands on a 1990 Toyota Xtra cab. Had a wooden bed on it and the frame had some rot. The rear cross member pipe was totally shot (Rotten). The engine has 158,xxx miles on it. (Still just a baby). The previous owner is a really good family friend of mine and since I turned 18 a while ago he decided to GIVE me this truck for absolutely no cost. He has run Super (fuel) in it since the day he drove it off the lot. The last time he tried to get it inspected it didnt pass due to rust. I figured this would be a great project for me to take on. I have minimal money and lots of time. The transmission coolant lines leaked REALLY BAD and it needed a crush washer on the transmission drainage plug. Other than that it was ready to go. Well, at least that's what I thought... Turns out it needed a lot more work than I had thought. It still didn't stop me, first of all. this was a free truck, second of all he gave me a free 2 inch iron-man suspension lift with it, third of all, this truck has a lot of sentimental value. I met up with my friend (who owns a shop with a welder) he is my age as well and we got to work.So here are the progress photos I figured I would share with you guys/gals. I will update them when I get the chance! Thanks
When I first got it
IMMEDIATELY took the rack and wood bed off
This is what I found when the bed came off!
No more wooden bed
PAINTED THE HOOD!
So after doing this, I brought it to my friends shop and it was ready to take care of the rot!
