it'll click down in 4 low than as soon as it stats moving it slams back to 4 hi, any suggestions

I bought it just rebuilt engine, and when driving it shifts into each gear hard, same when i put it in reverse or drive from a standstill, any suggestions, could changing the filter help? Does it by any chance have shift censors? Open to anything, just hoping im not gonna be needing a new tranny

great... You would have the H case...

If you're having shifting problems as indicated by your other thread (which needs to be merged) and your 4WD is messed up... There's just too many variables I know to tell you where to start.

Sounds like your line pressure is too high. There is a cable that connects the line pressure regulator to the throttle valve. Make sure this is adjusted properly. It probably was not adjusted when the rebuilt engine went in.

When you open the throttle fully you will notice a small silver barrel shaped object come out of the black sheath on the cable. When adjusted properly, only about 2mm of this barrel should be sticking out (I am going by memory here so someone correct me about the 2mm if I am wrong)

If it clicks into 4 wheel perfect, but when i drop down to 4 low i have to hold it back and it dont click and stay locked, but will go into 4 lo, just gotta hold it there, could it be a linkage problem? Im still a lil knew to the Toyota's

Ill check it, but i rebuilt the top end of the engine, headgaskets and so forth, so could it be out?

If you rebuilt the top, you most certainly disconected this cable from the throttle valve.

Yea i know theres the throttle cable and then a kick down cable to make the tranny downshift when needed, i dont see how this would effect just regular shifting into reverse and drive, and shifting up the road?

I dont see in any way how not being able to stay in 4 low has anything to do with my automatic tranny shifting hard, ones a tranny and the other is a t-case! Your feel me?

There is no kickdown cable on the a340 series. That cable directly controls line pressure. The more you open the throttle, the higher the line pressure goes.

Down shift is controlled by the throttle position sensor ( the electronic gizmo with 4 wire sticking out of it)

Thanks guys, ill give it a try, i checked my haynes manual and it says nothing on what to adjust it to, any idea would be most helpful, thaks
