1990 Pickup brake line help, please!
Howdy!
Newbie with a cherished 1990 Extracab 4wd V-6. Can someone please double check me here???
A rusted line popped and of course once I started digging into it, I've had to replace every line on the truck. I removed and replaced each line one at a time so I knew what went where.
Here's what's weird: There are two ports on the master cylinder. One goes to a T fitting below the cyl. From that Tee, a line goes to the left front wheel. The other line from that Tee goes across the engine bay to the pass side to ANOTHER tee fitting, with one line going to the rear and the other to the RIGHT front wheel.
I'm thought I was replacing factory original lines, but perhaps not because it looks to me like both front wheels are on the same circuit.
BTW, the other port on the master cylinder has a line that goes to passenger side wheel well and a right angle junction that sends the brake pressure rearward. There are no Tees in this circuit.
Something seems off to me because I thought the circuits where plit diagonally: Left front wheel to right rear and so on.
I can't seem to find a routing diagram, which would simplify this.
Can someone please tell me what I'm missing here???
Thanks,
Larry

Thank you! What confused me was the front-rear split of the braking system. In most cars, the brakes are split diagonally and I thought that was the law.
It's not, there simply has to be redundancy in the system, as you mention. So it looks like I'm good to go!
