Did the back end come up just because of all the weight taken off?
Are you ready Steve? I have to put in my Longs this weekend, but I could come over after that.

I am real interested in seeing the window tracks back inplace thats the one thing that has eluded me on my plan to do the chop myself.

I am having a hard time stripping out all the extra sheet metal for the window track. It is like 4 layers thick so I cant cut it streight to lne up with where i already cut. I was a little scared to do it but the chop was easy. I had that done in like 3 hours. The bobb is not finished and i have about 8 hours into it. I could have done it faster but i have to quit around 3 every morning cause i get up at 8:30 and i have to get it to a point where i can drive it the next day.

Question? Before you cut the back did the truck sit level and after the cut it raised like this.

I plan on doing similar work on mine and am contemplating removing a leaf from my leaf packs front and rear to accomidate and add maybe a bit longer shackle in the rear.

Looks really good I think you took the perfect amount off

When u cut the top u lose 250-300 pounds off the top so that helps too.

So you ended up grafting back on the original window frame? I think that's a pretty good way to go.

I have always wanted to chop, but keep the ability to lower the rear glass by re-using the original tailgate. But I guess the wheel wells are in the way.

What's you plan? Fixed glass, something else?

And the reason you can cut and weld the back corner right back on is because both vertical diagonals on the rear side windows are parrallel.

It is posible to mod in the roll down window. That is if you dont care it only goes down a few inches What about maybe a plexi window or similar material with hinges to make it fold down? That would be cool and I think I just gave myself an idea for mine

has anyone thought about cutting the top off and keeping it as a hard top? That way you could run a soft top in the summer and have a hard top for the winter. If i ever had the courage, thats what i would do.

Mossyrocks tried that... but the top is so heavy, it's hard to mess with. I think he was using a forklift, but dropped it. That was the end of the removable top experiment.

ya but his was a 3rd gen. so it had the huge tailgate attached.
Is that top part really that heavy? I couldn't be any heavier than the 1st gen removable tops right?
