Lightbulb 1990 2nd Gen 2DR engine shuts down @3,000 RPM.

Could this be a problem with "Variable Valve Timing"?
trans shifts as it should and can get up to hwy speeds as long as you do not go ovr 3,000 RPM..
I have been throwing parts at this thing, but still having problems.

Another issue is the starter...
I have replaced 5 starters with in the last year.
when the engine gets to norm temps it sometimes does not want to start. sometimes you may get a short click or nothing at all...

The belt tensioner used from ’88-’92 was a spring loaded tensioner (Toyota p/n 13505-65020). In 1993 the tensioner went to a hydraulic style (Toyota p/n 13505-65040) (see photo on page 38).
Could be a worn out spring, or stretchy belt, but thats just a random guess.

You don't say what engine, or what parts you changed, or what you have already tested.?!

No vvt. More than likely fuel cut or electical issue. Figure out the code 14 and go from there.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

That OBD1 code 14 is too generalized in my pos manual.

If this model V6 did not have VVT, then what does it have?
After all the engine is ovr head cam.

I wouldn't worry about imaginary "Variable Valve Timing" when your engine is trying to tell you something as specifically as it can.

Then I'm going to guess your problem is (was) NOT the starter. Just a guess.

Do you know if your starter relay http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../2starterr.pdf is operating when you turn the key? If the relay operates but the starter doesn't, the relay contacts could be bad. If the relay doesn't operate you might have a bad ignition switch.

Why do you think it has to have something? Its a 95 not an 06.
It doesnt have VVT, its not a hybrid, it doesn't shut down 2 cylinders on the freeway, its not a flex fuel engine, and it doesnt fly.

But it does have pistons, valves, cams, a timing belt, and some electric components. More HP and torque then 22re. But no its not very advanced or futuristic.

I hate electrical problems! Still regadless if it has VVT or not I have to fix the problem.
Looks like its time for some elctrical trouble shooting.
And Btw It soon will fly on HHO Gas..

I never said it was VVT.. You did silly
