1989 Pickup Blower Issue

Hello all,

I recently bought an '89 pickup. After fiddling with everything on the truck, I've noticed something: of the 4 dash vents, the two outer dash vents (the two closest to the doors) are always blowing air, no matter which head/feet/defrost position the slider is at. The temperature slider and blower level still affect these vents. In addition, the head/feet/defrost slider also has some resistance, sliding it feels much tighter than the other sliders. I can't seem to figure out what the issue is here. Any help?

Red face

Cables and doors 28 years old or so.

You would be surprised the amount of dirt getting into the heater and defroster duct work

If your real lucky maybe some sort of rodent nests

You can very carefully take things apart knowing plastic is old and brittle and clean and lube things as best you can

To get access to your blower assembly, I think all you need to do is mostly remove the glove box. This will get you headed in the right direction on what to check... https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...trucks-286766/

Thanks, I'll report back on what I find. This is the first Toyota I've ever owned so I'm still kinda getting a feel for the truck.

When you have it on vent, does air come out of defrost at well? Maybe even floor even if you haven't selected them? If so I can possibly be an issue with the blend door. I've had this happen on two older celicas.
