Snow Shark

my truck is a 1989 ext cab sr5, the trailer light left blinker doesn't work and traced it back to a black box behind the right tail light. I can hear it when it blinks, I assume that its the blinker relay. When I touch the wire going into the box it shorts and stops working the rest of the light work ok, anybody have this. I'm thinking it's aftermarket and the previous owner installed it. I do not see any writing on the cover.

yes , it is aftermarket .. trailer tail light converter
it takes the toyota 3 lamp system , and converts it to a 2 lamp trailer system
any "aftermarket" autoparts store should be able to help you
