I have a 89 4runner with a rotted frame... I am interested in putting the body onto a 1983 solid axle frame... The frame is mint and I will be doing a 3" body lift at the same time as the body swap... Is there anyone out there who has put a 1st gen 4runner body on an earlier 80's frame... Wats involved?? Am I getting in over my head???

Is it possible? Yes of course, anything is possible.

Is it a straight direct swap? Nope not even close. You will need some fabrication skills, and some good welding skills. I would suggest staying away from the body lift, especially on a frame not designed for the 4Runner body.

definitely fab skills....
compare the two frames if you have to to see major differences.
You'll need new body mounts as well.

I can weld and move body mounts butt is that all that is involved?? It looks like the first 3 sets of mounts for the cab line up
