1987 extracab pickup auto tranny sluggish
ok so i picked up an extracab pickup with a really nice body. had a bad engine knock so i swapped in another 22re longblock i had waiting for my first gen....... sigh..
now the suspension needs a lot of work(about 1000 bucks worth from les schwab, damn ill just learn how to do that stuff myself..)
and the tranny is really sluggish. i have an 89 4runner with a manual(brand new clutch as of about 1 year ago) and it hauls compared to this auto tranny(which im not familiar with) now i realize that the torque converter and just the way auto's work that the truck will lose a slight amount of horse power BUT i feel like this is way too much..
i have checked the fluid and drained it since it was like old oil. brown and discusting.. it shifts nicely and is fine its just really sluggish. should i change the filter or am i looking at other bigger problems?
and if someone CAN explain, please tell me how changing fluid would make any difference at all? or changing a filter...
thanks in advance!! damn if there was a yotatech sticker i would totally sport that!!
