1987 22r will not get fuel

I have a really nice 87 with a 22r that I drug out of a field for a very low price. I've been trying to get it running however it will not pull any fuel from the tank. The truck will start if fuel is poured in the carb so it has spark and all that good stuff. Also if you crank it over and have someone hold their hand over the gas cap there is pressure which should mean that the fuel pump works. Looking for some suggestions! Thank you in advance

Neddle could be stuck shut on the carb. For the cost of a pump I would replace it still. You don't know how old it is and if the diaphragm is cracked. Plugged fuel lines are another possibility. You can blow compressed air threw them to see. But I'm going to get the carb is the issue.

I have pulled several trucks out of a field. Depending on how long they sat, the fuel starts to get chunks in the tank. Also you can get a crust built up around the in tank filter that will not let fuel pass thru.

In all of my builds, usually I start at the fuel tank and fuel lines as they get clogged from the fuel. The tanks usually look like rust inside but I have cleaned many tanks and when cleaned, I have yet to find any pitting or rust damage IN the tank. Where I have found rust damage is on TOP of the tank where mud has sit on it.

Part number for a new In Tank filter is #77023-12050. On ebay it is called a TOYOTA FACTORY NIB FUEL FILTER SUCTION TUBE DIESEL. It was selling for $4.50 when I finally found it. I paid $15 at Toyota. (83 pg 8) This filter is for carburated trucks.

External 22r Filter.
I knew I had a picture of the factory filter somewhere. Ignore the wonderful wiring hack job.

Couldn't be a needle because the only time the needle matters is when you open the throttle allowing fuel to pass through the main jet. At idle (and from start) fuel will only pass through the pilot jet. However I found the problem and it was that the fuel lines leak pretty bad so it can't pull enough fuel. I put a new pump on and got it to run a little but I'll have to run a new fuel line for sure. Never had the truck on a paved surface when I tried to start it before so I never noticed the fuel leak.

Thank you for the response however it was the fuel line. It leaks pretty good and I must have never noticed it before because I was trying to start it out in a feild. I threw on new fuel pump on it and it will run now however I need to run a new line.
