I thought about doing that. My stocker rims were 5" of backspacing and I put 30x9.50x15 tires on with no problems. The used aftermarket rims I got have 3.75" of backspacing, so nothing will rub on the inside of the tire. the tires are 33x 12.50x 15 and they rub when turning (in the front wheel well, up against the firewall ). In the back I need a lift. These rims cause the tires to stick out about 3". They are a big tire and wheel combo. The rims are 15"x 10".
Moral of the story is whatever you buy, have less backspacing when going bigger. I reduced my BS by 1.25" and it was probably too much. I could have done less.

find my post about running 5 star rims off a limited....back space is wrong, had to get spacers and the inside diameter is wrong, had to grind out to fit over manual hubs.

Im running 16 in stock steel tundra wheels with my street tires on them. Their 16x7 with a 5 in backspace. No problems at all.

Thanks guys. The 16x7 steel are on my list, junkyard cheap and plentiful. Plan is to throw on some black paint and call it done. The 5" backspace sounds like a little much, but I guess if ya'll are running them and they work, that's all that counts.
