15 degrees advanced?

timed my 94 22re to 5 degrees with the computer jumped and when i take out jumper wire it shows 15 degrees advanced, thats seems to much, anyone have any ideas? also my temp gauge seems to be working correctly but semms like the engine compartment is way to hot, you can't even hold you hand on the hood,please i need help, i'm scared to drive it!

with the ECU jumpered the timing will be less, pull the jumper off and it goes into active timing control instead of the failsafe minimum you see with the jumper in place
