100k mile maintenance

Hey all, Im a few thousand kilometers away from hitting the 100k mile point (yes I know.. choose a measuring system) and im compiling a list of things that I want to do. Since ordering parts from america takes almost 1/2 the cost of some things away, I want to start ordering them now. I had a dealer here quote me 330 bucks for an o2 sensor

o2 sensor
fuel filter
diff's, tranny and transfer fluid change
leads, cap and rotor

anything else I should do that I'm missing? I'm tempted to try switching to synthetic oil(thank you Walmart), but I'm afraid I'm past that point now.

You'll be fine, I switched to synthetic on my 81 with 155k miles, it runs like a top with just a slow weep around the oil pan, been too lazy to seal it up.
Stay away from pennzoil, it's garbage. I'd check your ball joints, bushings etc.. Moving parts wear out. Take the time while you're ordering parts to check em all out. Make sure you grease the joints on your driveshafts. Check for any surface rust, now is a good time to wirewheel and paint over it while you're crawling around under the truck. Good luck man.

Timing components, water pump are typical 100k stuff on most vehicles. Coolant flush. Belts.

yeah my timing belt still has 30k km's till it need replacing, Ill wait for that. Im just trying to think of things that I know havent been done. Grease levels are fine, I did that last oil change. did the belts and flushed the coolant recently as well.

Im thinking ill try rotella. I have read good things about it on here

I wouldn't go with a diesel oil such as Rotella just yet. 100k miles is barely broken in if properly maintained. I'm not gonna get into the oil debate here but I think* pretty much everyone would agree that you don't need thicker oil at 100k miles (whether or not thicker oil helps high mileage motors is another discussion). I'm also gonna venture to say that you probably won't have any issues whatsoever with synthetic oil in a 100k mile engine.

I'm assuming you have the 3VZ-E since you mentioned timing belt...if that's the case, I would run that sucker to at least it's recommended change interval if not more since it's a non-interference engine.

I replaced my original water pump at about 200k miles and it had ZERO play in the bearings and appeared to be in perfect condition. Take that as you will.

O2 sensor is a good idea...be sure to stay away from Bosch on those. I've heard good things about NGK and even better about Denso. Good site for those here.

Fuel filter is not a bad idea if you can get it off of there...cheap part but a pain to remove. I have about 250k miles on my original fuel filter and have no fuel related issues. *knocks on wood*

As far as fluids (with the exception of coolant) and cap/rotor/plugs/wires go, those have much shorter change intervals so I wouldn't really consider them 100k maintenance items but if they're due they're due.

Good luck and happy maintaining!
