shimming knuckles

hey everyone i need a bit of help finding somewhere near calgary alberta that can reshim the knuckles on a solid front axle. So far the dealers in southern alberta are unable to help me at all. i know of a small shop outside Nelson B.C. that can do it but thats a six hr drive. i am installing a new hi-steer kit as well as a knuckle rebuild and just dont want to screw up anything. if i have to ill order the sst and do it myself but for now id rather find somewhere thet can do the shimming for me

When u take your knuckles apart save the shims and go back in with them in the same way they came out that's the most common way to do it

from what i understand the bottom shims control the centering of the knuckle and the top shims control the preload for the trunnion bearings? if thats correct and i have my original bottom shims i should just have to shim the top for the bearing preload with a fish scale right?

Your high steer will come with top steering arms and Knuckles kit comes with New shims if your running 36 or bigger set to 12 -14lbs smaller 10lbs should be good when you do the whole rebuild its good to use all new even with New bearings the old shims will be to tight

I can not say till I dive into it .. this is basically "custom" work .. I need to see what i'm dealing with first

if it helps , we get great deals with a few shipping companies . also , I'm driving to Edmonton next week , and have a trailer ,if that helps
