well to stay on topic i get about 17-20 with 30" tires 4.56 gears and a webber 38,its about average. we all want to run swamper and were discussing gas milage.kind of oxymoronic heh.i bought a tow bar from. harbor freight so if i break down or damage something its an option to tow it home if its still rolling on all four.saved me from having to leave it on the side of the road last sunday after playing at the orv park my fan kissed the radiator.I had the hooks lying around the shop so i hung them from the brackets i thought it looked cool.the brackets are solid but the hooks would prolly give if i tried to pull with them, just some small pins holding them on

Wow...I can honestly say I've never seen this before...this has gone from 1st gen gas mileage to a chit chat forum.
Honestly why don't you guys just PM each other or call each other on the phone and talk about your trucks? There's like 3 pages of just back & forth about your trucks in a gas mileage thread.

BTW because I like this forum and don't want to come off as a you-know-what, I only steped in there because a huge reason for the tech areas of this forum is for people searching for answers to similar problems, searching for info etc. If somebody looks at this thread trying to find typical 1st gen gas mileage, they're going to have to read through this entire exchange before they realize there's no info in here at all...
So no big deal, but if you guys just want to talk trucks, there's better places than here in the tech area.

With A/C off and nothing in the bed doing around 65, I get about 32. If I go any faster or turn the A/C on, the mileage goes down. Haven't seen anything lower than 23 yet.

My camper rig "Gypsy Dancer" is an '82 4X4 longbed with the only performance modification being a Downey header. Even with that big ol' homebuilt camper creating a crap ton of wind resistance, I get 19-20 at 60 to 65 per. Might try a Weber next...

With the exact same setup in my 2wd (pace setter header, 32/36, 280 comp cam, and 50 series flowmaster) i would get around 30. now that that engine is in the 4wd, 23-25 mpg
