Converting back to full 22r??

Hello everyone,

I have a 1980 that we upgraded to the hybrid 22r bottom with a 20r head. Head gasket blew, and now I'm faced with the inevitable question... Make it a complete 22r, or get the head checked and slap it back together as is? Pricing an LCE intake, and a rebuilt 22r head would wind up being around $700 (If anyone has a 22r head they'd be willing to part with would be a godsend). At this point, I'm not looking for an off road beater, just a truck that runs reliably so I can move on with restoration. I also read into some articles that talk about the weber 38 vs the 32/36 that I currently run. Good info there. Any thoughts on the advantage of the 20r head vs going to a matching 22r setup are appreciated.

Well if you did the hybrid you must know the arguments for it. Which means you must know the arguments against it...So it's really just up to you...If you just happened to do the 20R/22R hybrid without knowing why then I guess you can search those threads, but I'm guessing you already know the reasons for it if you did all that work.

Personally I really liked my 20R.
